OVERVIEW

Carao is the fruit of a wild forest tree found in Central America, proven through scientific studies and clinical experience to be an effective natural anti-anemic. Tropical Health Foods (TM) carao is a pure extract of organic (wild) carao fruit made in Costa Rica by CR Natural, S.A. using low temperature solar evaporation, to conserve maximum food value. Carao is a natural food, not a drug. For more information on carao for anemia please visit www.AnemiaAnswer.com, my personal website informing on the use of carao for anemia.  The CR Natural website, from which the product is purchased, is at www.tropicalhealthfoods.com.

HOW TO TAKE CARAO

Many people enjoy the naturally sweet, chocolaty flavor of Tropical Health Foods carao.  However, others dislike the strong smell and flavor, especially the first time it is tried. Most agree it tastes much better than it smells. Those who don't like it at first usually grow to enjoy it, especially when mixed with milk.

Our suggestion is to first try it mixed with milk or soy milk, following the Costa Rican Carao Drink recipe given on the bottle label. If however you strongly dislike the flavor even this way, we suggest you try mixing it with chocolate milk or chocolate soy milk.

Another suggestion: If you dislike the smell and you are taking it with milk, have someone else prepare it for you if possible.

Tropical Health Foods carao can also be taken plain or mixed with a small amount of water.

STORAGE

No refrigeration is required after opening. The expiration date is given on the label.

HOW MUCH TO TAKE AND HOW OFTEN

Most adults should take a total of 4 teaspoons per day, usually in 2 doses of 2 teaspoons each. (one teaspoon = 4.9 ml). This is 2 teaspoons twice per day. At this rate, one large bottle will last 18.5 days. For dosage in children, see the following topic.

We do not recommend that carao be taken before breakfast, since in a few people this can cause digestive upset.

CARAO FOR CHILDREN

Nursing infants can be given a total of one teaspoon per day, diluted in milk, divided into 2 or more doses.

Carao is generally well-accepted by children, and is usually more effective for anemia in children than in adults.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q. WHAT TYPE OF ANEMIA IS CARAO GOOD FOR?

We have seen it to be very effective against so-called "iron deficiency" anemia, and anemia caused by excessive blood loss (menstruation, etc.), including some cases that were unresponsive to iron treatment. It has also given amazing results for anemia of pregnancy and anemia caused by chemotherapy, kidney failure, and bone marrow failure. More recently we have received reports of cure of hemolytic anemia and thalassemmia. A Nigerian pediatrician has recently called it "a new dawn in the management of Sickle Cell Disease and Anemia." These amazing results cause me to believe it is beneficial for nearly all anemia.

Q. WHY DOESN'T MY DOCTOR KNOW ABOUT CARAO?

Carao is brand new to most of the world, and is still unknown to most doctors and ignored by the medical establishment, except in Central America, where many or most doctors are in favor of its use for anemia.

Q. HAVE THERE BEEN ANY SCIENTIFIC STUDIES?

A peer-reviewed scientific study published in a pharmacological journal showed amazing anti-anemia activity in laboratory rats. In addition, there was a study carried out by Dr. Luis Carmona in Costa Rica.

Q. HOW SOON SHOULD I EXPECT RESULTS?

Most people begin to feel greater energy after about 5-14 days. However, it usually takes about 4 weeks to show measurable improvement in blood values.

Q. WILL I NEED TO CONTINUE USING CARAO AFTER I GET OVER MY ANEMIA?

It is generally not necessary to continue to use carao after the anemia is cleared, unless the anemia was caused by a chronic disease condition.  Examples of such chronic conditions are: kidney failure, bleeding tumors, excessive menstrual bleeding, etc.  In such cases, after the anemic condition is controlled it may be that a small "maintenance dose" of carao will be sufficient to maintain benefits.  We suggest that 2 teaspoons per day be tried as a maintenance dose.  Since carao is a natural food, it can be safely used for extended periods.
